Dear Auld Glasca Toon.
In nineteen forty came evacuees-
To “ dear auld Glasca toon”.
And quickly people put them at their ease –
We settled in so soon.
The Glasgow folk were welcoming and kind,
And we were thankful that the ties still bind.
The blitz we faced together, hardships shared –
Uplifted by the folk who loved and cared.
We thank the Lord twas Glasgow that we came;
We bless that day in June.
For here we found a CITY and a HAME –
In “dear auld glasca toon”.
Contacts are made, life long we are befriended;
We met, we blethered, and the accents blended.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
And through the war we all had played our parts
And now we greet each other again –
This time it’s such a boon!
There was no loss, we feel that all is gain –
In “ dear auld Glasca toon”.
